Document 01 / Public notice
Terms of use
These terms govern access to aconsumerlifeline.org, including every profile, member page, subpage and related experience published under this domain (collectively, the “Site”).
1. Acceptance of these terms
By visiting or using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and agree to use the Site only on that basis. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. These terms apply to the main A Consumer Lifeline website and to all fictional member websites, profiles, galleries, articles and experiences hosted within it.
2. Fictional nature of the project
The Site is an artistic simulation presented in the visual language of a consumer-support organisation and its member community. That presentation is part of the fiction and must not be interpreted as evidence that any displayed organisation, programme, service, campaign, member, beneficiary, employee, partner or transaction exists in the real world.
Names, biographies, stories, addresses, statistics, registration numbers, membership records, testimonials, products, events, account balances and other particulars appearing on the Site are fictional narrative elements unless a page expressly states otherwise.
3. No real persons or organisations
No character or entity portrayed on the Site is intended to depict, identify or make a statement about any actual person, whether living or deceased, or any actual organisation, whether currently active, inactive or dissolved. Any resemblance to a real person, business, charity, institution, event or circumstance is coincidental and unintended.
The appearance of a name, mark, location, object or cultural reference must not be understood as an endorsement, affiliation, sponsorship, accusation or factual claim concerning any third party.
4. Artificially generated content
The Site’s copy, statements, images, illustrations, photography, identities and narrative material are produced or materially assisted by artificial-intelligence systems for fictional and creative purposes. Such material may contain invented details, visual artefacts, inconsistencies or errors.
AI-generated material is not documentary evidence and must not be treated as an authentic photograph, quotation, record, credential or representation of a real person, place, organisation, service or event.
5. No services, applications or membership
The Site does not provide housing support, emergency relief, fundraising, banking, payment processing, case management, referrals or membership services. Buttons, forms, dashboards, contribution records, eligibility criteria and application processes shown on the Site are fictional interface elements only.
No interaction with the Site creates a membership, client, beneficiary, donor, fiduciary, advisory or other legal relationship. No visitor is approved for assistance, and no displayed amount is available for payment or withdrawal.
6. Do not send money or personal information
Do not use the Site to send money, make a donation, request a payment or submit identity documents, banking details, passwords, health information, housing records or other sensitive personal information. The Site is not an authorised channel for any real transaction or request for help.
If any person uses the name “A Consumer Lifeline” or a Site character to request money, credentials or confidential information, treat that request as unauthorised and do not comply with it.
7. No professional advice or emergency assistance
Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, housing, social-work, medical, safety or other professional advice. Content must not be relied on to make decisions, establish eligibility, protect a legal right or respond to an emergency.
A person facing a real housing, financial, health or safety crisis should contact an appropriately qualified professional, recognised service provider or official emergency service in their own location. The Site cannot receive, assess or respond to requests for real-world assistance.
8. Fictional member websites
Each member website hosted under the Site forms part of the same fictional universe. A member page may adopt a distinct voice, identity, biography, collection, business-like presentation or editorial point of view. Those creative choices do not make the member, their statements or their activities real.
Visitors must not impersonate a fictional member, present a member profile as a real person, or reproduce Site material in a manner likely to mislead others about its fictional origin.
9. Third-party names and links
A reference or link to an external website, platform, product or service does not imply endorsement, verification, partnership or responsibility. External destinations are governed by their own terms and practices. The Site operator does not control and is not responsible for third-party content or availability.
10. Permitted use
You may browse the Site for personal, non-commercial appreciation of the fictional project. You may not misuse the Site, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, extract data at scale, evade access controls, distribute malicious code, or use Site content to deceive, defame, harass or exploit another person.
11. Intellectual property
The Site’s selection, arrangement, design, code and original creative presentation are protected to the extent permitted by applicable law. These terms do not transfer any ownership or grant permission to use the Site’s branding, design or content for a commercial purpose. Third-party rights in any referenced material remain with their respective holders.
12. Availability and changes
The Site may be changed, corrected, suspended or withdrawn at any time. Characters, pages, features and fictional records may be revised or removed without notice. There is no promise that the Site will remain available, accurate, complete, secure or free from technical errors.
13. No warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties, representations or guarantees of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site operator will not be liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on fictional content, inability to access the Site, interaction with an external service, or unauthorised use of Site names or material. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
15. Severability and non-waiver
If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
16. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect changes to the fictional project or the way the Site operates. The version displayed here applies from the “last updated” date below. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
